Godzillagate
What didn't make sense to me is why Godzilla spent all the time in the beginning of the movie to get powered
up - just to then not use it properly. I mean, he knew/knows who Kong is - so, I'd assume that in this case
he wouldn't see him as a threat. And then it took Mothra to broker peace between the two.
And - actually it kind of is explained in the movie. Technically. The deal is this, I would assume: Godzilla
doesn't trust the Monkeys. He only let Kong off the hook "last time" because Kong helped him. What the movie
kind of implies is, that Godzilla has a deep rooted mistrust against "his ilk", like, specifically.
Further, Godzilla gets powered up because he receives the Signal from hollow earth - and when he then sees
Kong, Kong is merely a part of the bigger threat that he got ready to fight against in the first place.
So, yea, talking about ... how pre-conceptions can mess up our understanding.
Beyond that, time is an important part of the Plot. I mean, were it not for Godzilla and Kong arriving when
they did - the bad monkeys would have reached the surface. And possibly messed up the "peaceful place" also.
And - the conflict at heart might seem "meh" compared to ... Gidorah or ... say ... Space Godzilla ... but
it's also kind of the story of Mothra's people - so, the story being almost told as from their perspective.
And while Kong was good at dodging Godzilla's atomic breath, the Bad Monkey is even more agile. So it makes
sense for Godzilla to be like ... "yo ... " Eye of the Tiger.
